Hello, my name is Sydney Bapty. I am 12 years old and this is my third year in the Armstrong Beef 4-H Club.
This year I’m raising a Hereford Angus cross named Rufus. Rufus is getting 20lbs of Valley Auction Tex a day. At weigh in Rufus weighed 812 lbs and on June 1st Rufus weighed 1260 lbs. Rufus is my first homegrown steer. I’ve enjoyed watching Rufus grow up from a little calf racing around, to a big steer who likes to be lazy. Rufus, and my heifer this year Poppy, have made me find my favourite breed of cows which is Hereford.
My favourite thing about 4-H is getting to know more about beef and agriculture and getting to meet new people who enjoy the same things that I do!!!
