In addition to my woodworking career I’m also a professional dance teacher. This piece addresses the delicate dance of balancing two very different professions. English country dancing, a form that dates back to the mid-1600s, is a particular love of mine. This piece contains the sheet music and the dance notes for a dance called, appropriately enough, “The Round,” from 1701. For the next few years I’ll be trying to tip the balance more toward the woodshop, but I’ll never stop dancing, even at the lathe.

Kalia Kliban, from Sebastopol, CA, is a turner of primarily functional bowls. (question, does she mean bowls that are primarily functional, or primarily turns functional bowls?) When she’s not behind the lathe, she can often be found behind the microphone leading dance events across the US and beyond.
