Gianfranco Angelino (1938-2010)
Angelino developed new techniques and new tools to make technically feasible the exploitation of special portions of plants not normally used in woodturning, including branches, roots, knots and smaller species.
With an advanced degree in aeronautical engineering, he was a self-taught botanist, and his field search for hidden wood peculiarities identified 50 Mediterranean species in Italy used in his works.
