"Bill Luce was my friend. It has been an honor to finish turn the bowls Bill roughed out. As best I can I have kept Bill's shape. His bowls were taller than I normally do and more challenging to finish turn. With the exhibition this year in Portland I felt it was a good time to finish this bowl."

Dale Larson has been turning wood for over 45 years. Located in Gresham, Oregon, Dale primarily turns bowls from local hardwoods such as Pacific madrone and bigleaf maple. His work is both functional and beautiful and much admired by collectors and wood workers alike. His bowls can be found in private collections all over the world. Dale has demonstrated his bow- and sphere-turning at the American Association of Woodturners (AAW) Symposia in the USA and the Ripon Symposium in England. He also teaches and publishes articles in several wood working and wood turning journals including "American Woodturner." Dale is a founding member of the Portland area Cascade Woodturners and has been an active member of the AAW for over 20 years.

Bill Luce was known for his extraordinary forms. He once said his mission statement was, "The exploration of the quiet power of understated form." Born in Germany, Bill spent his formative years in Japan, and later recognized the influence of Japanese craftsmanship in his own pursuit of the perfect form.
